SUV or SEDAN: Which suits you best?

8 January 2020 AutoMarket, Tips & Advice

Deciding which vehicle to purchase is not a piece of cake. You may have first thought about the model and make you wanted to buy but you must prioritise finding out which suits your specific lifestyle. Sedan or SUV? Each has its pros and cons which makes it even harder to process a selection. Keep in mind that it is necessary to not only look on what your present need is but to also consider your future needs. Here is a good read of comparison highlights between the two car types.

#1 Appearance

SUVs have bulky exterior design while sedans have more of a sporty-streamlined look. Most sedans built are more aerodynamic. However, innovations have made modern SUV designs less boxy than old models.

#2 Suspension and Height

Sedans are difficult to drive and ride on rough uneven terrain because of their lower ground clearance. On the other hand, SUVs has stronger suspension system and built with higher ground clearance for a comfy off-road driving experience.

#3 Storage and Space
If the purchase is for family-use, SUV is an ideal choice because they are built with bigger seating capacity and bigger profile. It can seat about six to seven people while sedans can only seat a maximum of 5 person. Storage wise, SUVs still get the points.

#4 Fuel Economy

Smaller cars like sedans tend to use lesser fuel. In addition, most sedans nowadays come with an entry-level four-cylinder or a v6 which increase their fuel efficiency.

#5 Performance

Sedans being small and compact makes them easier to park and drive. If you’re specifically looking for a car to drive around then go for a sedan. SUV, on the other hand, is also a good city automotive. However, its big profile is a challenge to be driven and parked. Plus, an off-road experience is an SUV option perfect if you’re an outdoor adventurer.

#6 Price

SUVs are generally more costly than sedans as they are bigger and consume more fuel. However, at the end of the day, purchasing a vehicle still comes down to your personal preference and we hope our comparisons helped you gained insight into deciding which car suits you best.
