Top 10 SUVs to Watch in 2021

2 November 2020 AutoMarket, Tips & Advice

As we edge closer towards the end of 2020, it’s time to start thinking about what cars will hit the market in the New Year. Many motor enthusiasts upgrade annually and will likely already have their eye on an upcoming model. SUVs remain a firm favourite among Australians, and their high sales are forecasted to continue for years to come. Not only are they ultra-spacious, but they are also built to withstand Australia’s rugged road conditions making them a solid choice for car buyers.

Here’s a sneak peek at our favourite new SUVs, coming to a dealership near you soon.

1. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 comes complete with lots of new features. The exterior boasts a body-colour bumper, small LED headlights and a modified front end for an improved approach angle. It also has a bicolour taillight on the rear.

This Chevy’s interior flaunts an upgraded dashboard look for a sleek and sophisticated finish. Storage space is no problem with this beauty, which is equipped with an optional power sliding centre console for extra space. The ‘getting in and out’ issue has also been resolved thanks to its increased wheelbase stretch.

2. 2021 Cadillac Escalade

This redesign comes in two lengths - standard and extended. But the pièce de résistance of the Cadillac Escalade is its integration of cutting edge technology such as automated driver assistance systems (ADAS), which allows hands-free driving, as well as upgraded entertainment systems.

It also has a 6.2-litre V8 engine and an optional turbodiesel inline 6-cylinder, as well as luxury and sport-oriented trim-levels.

3. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport

If storage space for long road trips is what you’re after, look no further than to the Ford Bronco Sport. Designed for utility, it also has safety features and infotainment technology which make it the perfect off-road travel companion.

4. 2021 Kia Sorento

The 2021 Kia Sorento is a complete revamp of its previous versions. Its winning features are its increased size and interior space. It’s also got upgraded connectivity, driver assistance and infotainment technology.  This SUV also offers multiple powertrain options to choose from - conventional, hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Its interior has also been renovated with a more comfortable and higher quality design.

5. 2021 Buick Envision

The Buick Envision is undeniably stunning to look at. Its modern design has a uniquely European feel, with its simulated front and rear end skid plates. But she’s not style over substance.

This Buick also comes fully loaded with sophisticated interior features, which include a rear camera mirror, surround-view camera, front parking assist sensor, and semi-autonomous parking technology.

6. 2021 Genesis GV80

Genesis is actually a luxury brand from the Hyundai family, and it is set to independently release its first SUV - the Genesis GV80.

So far, we know little about this upcoming midsize SUV, except that you can choose from either real-wheel or four-wheel drive, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder or turbocharged V-6 engine.

7. 2021 Chevrolet Suburban

Looking for an SUV that has it all? The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is spacious, beautiful and high performing. This Chevy comfortably fits eight passengers as well as cargo. It also has two V8 engines and a turbodiesel inline 6 so it can take on roads with force and power. Enjoy great infotainment features with this model, including a 10-inch touchscreen display and Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as safety features such as blind spot warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.

8. 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe is set to make waves when it hits the market. This monster is basically a hybrid plug-in version of Wrangler Unlimited 4-door. It can travel for 40km in pure electricity before it starts up via a gasoline engine, wherein it can travel an additional 650km.

Although most of its features are carried over from the original model, it has some differentiating selling points. Its Selec-Speed Control helps it to navigate through tough hill climbs, so you can take on rough and rugged off-road conditions with ease.

9. 2021 Land Rover Defender 90

The Land Rover Defender 90 is essentially a smaller version of another Defender 110, but believe us when we say it packs a punch.

The six-seater is a permanent 4-wheel drive SUV and offers cargo space of about 1.6 cubic metres. It also features turbocharged 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. Additionally, you can also customise it to your taste.

10. 2021 Nissan Rogue

Looking for a family car? This Nissan Rogue, set for release this autumn of 2020, might just be the perfect choice for you. This newest model is a major redesign that’s packed with tech upgrades.

Its 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine is already good for 181 horsepower and can be driven either front-wheel or four-wheel.  But its most prominent feature is its smart Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) system. This tracks driving by monitoring the steering, acceleration, and braking behaviours, enhancing the stability of its wheels as it passes through terrains and corners.
